This month we are excited to feature Christina Frescki, MBA, RDN, FAND, active NJAND member and appointee to the NJ Nutrition and Dietetics Licensing Board!
Christina’s first career was in business and data integrity, but time and experience proved that she wanted a profession with a greater positive impact on others. Christina always had an interest in nutrition and saw dietetics as a wonderful way to combine her experience and interest to make a material impact on people’s health.
Consistent with her Jersey roots, Christina obtained her undergraduate degree in dietetic studies from Rutgers University and completed her dietetic internship through Montclair State University. She currently works at RWJ Barnabas Health with the Population Health and Employee Department where she provides nutrition counseling to individuals managing medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, cancer, GI issues, renal disease, and heart disease.
Christina has volunteered with the NJAND since 2015 as the policy and procedure chair and is currently one of three registered dietitians appointed to the NJ Nutrition and Dietetics Licensing Board. She is also a member of the Licensure Initiatives Monthly Affinity Group with the AND. Christina is dedicated to the nutrition profession and eager to elevate and validate our profession in New Jersey and beyond!
She has had many mentors throughout her career that she respects and admires. Christina looks to these mentors today, for advice, comradery, and to discuss developments in the nutrition profession. Christina states that the nutritional needs of our communities and the science of dietetics are constantly changing.
She advises new RD’s and DTRs to remember that “we are the reliable source of evidenced-based, science-driven nutrition information. Our expertise and knowledge help people with a crucial component of their emotional and physical health – the foods they choose.”
Christina loves all that New Jersey has to offer. The Garden State has so many ways to explore nature – the shore, mountains, lakes, beautiful downtowns, farms, and parks. You can find Christina in any one of these places with her family, or in the kitchen baking!
